Beyond the Chase: Why We Forget the Very Life That Breathes Through Us

Survival, Comfort, and the Forgotten Source:

Why We Miss the Cosmic Consciousness of Life.

Beyond the Chase: Why We Forget the Very Life That Breathes Through Us

Have you ever felt like you’ve checked all the boxes—got the job, the house, the social life—and yet, there’s still a nagging sense of “is this it?”

In our modern world, we are experts at the hustle. We are masters of the “chase.” But according to the WOW Center Team, we’ve become so focused on the layers of survival and comfort that we’ve lost touch with the Being-Life—the cosmic consciousness that acts as the quiet foundation for everything we do.

Let’s break down the layers of the human journey and see where we often get stuck.

1. The Foundation: The Survival Instinct

When we first enter this world, our needs are primal. It’s the “First Layer” of existence: Physicality Survival.

  • Food: Fuel for the engine.
  • Clothes: Protection from the elements.
  • Shelter: A sanctuary for safety.

Think of it like a tree. Before it can grow fruit, it needs soil, water, and sunlight. Without these basics, life simply cannot function. For many, this stage is a daily struggle, but even for those who have plenty, this instinctual drive to “secure the perimeter” never truly goes away.

2. The Search for Comfort: Managing the Mind

Once our bellies are full and our doors are locked, we don’t just sit in silence. We become restless. This is where we hit the second layer: Personality and Sociality.

Because survival only keeps us alive—it doesn’t necessarily make us happy—we look for “comforts” to soothe our internal friction:

  • Personality issues: Identity crises, fear, or a lack of confidence.
  • Sociality issues: Loneliness, the need for recognition, or the sting of comparison.

To cope, we turn to Religion for meaning, Spirituality for peace, or Entertainment for an escape. These are like the branches and flowers of our tree; they are how we express ourselves and find temporary relief from the weight of being “me.”

3. The “Mint Leaf” Trap

Here is where things get tricky. While religion, spirituality, and entertainment provide comfort, they are often just temporary fixes. > The Analogy: Imagine you are incredibly thirsty. Instead of drinking water, you chew on a fresh mint leaf. Your mouth feels cool and refreshed for a moment, but the underlying thirst remains.

Most of us spend our lives applying “ointments” to our mental wounds without ever addressing the source of the pain. We look outward for solutions, forgetting the Being-Life already sitting within us.

4. The Forgotten Source: Cosmic Consciousness

So, what is this “Being-Life”?

It is what some call Cosmic Consciousness. It’s the infinite, formless awareness that breathes through you. It isn’t your name, your job, or your social status. It is the “electricity” that allows the “lightbulb” of your personality to glow.

If we spend all our time trying to fix the lightbulb but forget to check the power source, we’ll always be left in the dark eventually.

5. Why Do We Lose Touch?

If this consciousness is so vital, why is it so easy to forget?

  1. The Habit of Looking Outward: We are trained from birth to find answers in the world around us, not the space within us.
  2. The Illusion of Comfort: Quick fixes feel good. Why go through the effort of deep realization when a movie or a ritual gives us a temporary “high”?
  3. The Ego’s Fear: The “Self-Me” loves being the main character. The idea of a vast, identity-free consciousness feels like a threat to the ego’s importance.

6. Finding the Synergy: The Screen and the Movie

True well-being isn’t about quitting your job or throwing away your comforts. It’s about Synergy.

Think of life like a movie screen:

  • The Drama (Self-Me): The characters, the tears, and the laughter on the screen.
  • The Screen (Life-Is): The silent, unaffected surface that holds the entire story.

When you forget the screen exists, you get lost in the tragedy of the movie. But when you remember the screen is there, you can enjoy the drama without being destroyed by it. This is the balance between our individual existence and the universal source.

7. How to Reconnect

You don’t need a mountain top or a complex ritual to find this again. It starts with Mindful Awareness:

  • The Power of the Pause: Take 30 seconds a day to just notice your breath or the silence in a room.
  • Look Past the “Fix”: The next time you seek entertainment or spiritual comfort, ask yourself: “Am I hiding from my thirst, or am I actually drinking water?”
  • Remember the Screen: Remind yourself that beneath your daily stress, there is a “Being-Life” that remains untouched and peaceful.

Final Thought

Human life is a three-stage process: Survival, Comfort, and Awareness. Most of us get stuck at stage two, circling between our needs and our comforts. But the goal of the journey is stage three—where you realize you are both the tree and the life-force that makes the tree grow.

Reflection for today: In this moment, am I just chasing comfort for my “Self-Me,” or can I feel the deeper “Life-Is” that is already here?
